About me:
I work as an associate professor of human services at Northwest Missouri State University, which means that 1) I have tenure; 2) Some people call me Dr. Leach, but you don’t have to; 3) I teach classes in psychology and case management.
I have always been a writer — I learned to read at age 3, and I started writing not long afterwards. My third-grade teacher taught me to write poetry, and I still write poetry to this day, but I realize I haven’t grown as much in that area as I’d like. I started writing short stories in 6th grade (I didn’t say they were good!) I wrote songs in grad school until I divorced my guitarist.
Novels, on the other hand, I didn’t start writing until 7 years ago when my husband suggested I write a novel rather than a bunch of stories on the same topic. I’ve published 6 novels so far; I have an additional five in various stages of being written. The published ones (six in the Kringle Chronicles, three in the Hidden in Plain Sight series), are available on Amazon.
About Words Like Me:
I started this blog early in the summer of 2017 to channel the thoughts in my head relative to writing. You should expect to see musings on what inspires me to write and what frustrates me; what I’m doing toward getting published and what I’ve learned; snippets of what I’ve written and what I’m currently working on. I may also talk about the influences that ushered me toward writing, and other writing related topics. I may also talk about what’s going on in my life.
The blog earned its name when an acquaintance of mine on the Internet commented that words liked me. I couldn’t resist the double meaning of the phrase.
About you:
